The purpose of this lesson

Hi! Today we will learn how to connect M5STACK to Arduino IDE on MacOS (Fig. 1). Let's display 'HELLO MAC'.

Figure 1

Stacks are a feature found in Apple's macOS, starting in Mac OS X Leopard.As the name implies, they 'stack' files into a small organized folder on the Dock.At the WWDC07 Keynote Presentation, Steve Jobs stated that in Leopard, the user will be given a default stack called Downloads, in which all downloaded content will be placed. In the initial release of Leopard, Stacks could be shown two. If you bind any binding to cmd-tab or cmd-shift-tab, Slate will completely disable the default Mac OS X Application switcher! Example: bind tab:cmd switch Will disable the default Mac OS X Application switcher and bind the keystroke cmd-tab to a better application switcher.Note:. There are.tons. of config options to tweak this. MacOS Big Sur elevates the most advanced desktop operating system in the world to a new level of power and beauty. A little theory

MacOS has significant differences from Windows, so the connection procedure is different too. The main part of the work will be done through the standard application Terminal. You must also know the password for your account, as it is required for the driver installer to make changes.

List of components for the lesson

  • Apple computer with MacOS;
  • M5STACK;
  • USB-C cable from the standard set.

Begin!

Step 1. Download and install the driver

We use the standard Safari browser to visit the official website of M5STACK (Fig. 2, 2.1).

Figure 2. The Safari browser on the dock bar Potatio mac os.

Figure 2.1. Address bar with the address entered

Click on the section Download, then Mac Click here (Fig. 2.2).

Figure 2.2

The download will begin. When the download is completed, click on the magnifying glass icon to open the driver installer folder (Fig. 2.3).

Figure 2.3

Open the driver installer by holding down ctrl on the keyboard and right-clicking on the icon (Fig. 2.4).

This completes the driver installation safely!

Step 2. Download and install the Arduino IDE

Download Arduino IDE for MacOS under SOFTWARE on the official Arduino website here (Fig. 3)

Figure 3

After the download is complete, open the Arduino file from the downloads folder (Fig. 3.1). After the program opens, close it.

Figure 3.1

Now add libraries using the Terminal application. To do this, click the mouse on the magnifying glass icon in the upper right corner and write the name of the application (Fig. 3.2). Next, double-click to launch the application itself.

Figure 3.2

Copy (⌘C) from all text and paste (⌘V) it in Terminal, then click Enter (Fig. 3.3).

Figure 3.3

The download and installation of the required components will begin (Fig. 3.4).

Figure 3.4

At the end of the installation on the last line written will be Done (Fig. 3.5). After that, the terminal must be closed.

Mac Os Versions

Stacks are a feature found in Apple's macOS, starting in Mac OS X Leopard. As the name implies, they 'stack' files into a small organized folder on the Dock. At the WWDC07 Keynote Presentation, Steve Jobs stated that in Leopard, the user will be given a default stack called Downloads, in which all downloaded content will be placed.

In the initial release of Leopard, Stacks could be shown two ways, in a 'fan' or a 'grid'. With the release of the 10.5.2 update, a third 'list' view was added. This list view allows folder icons to display their contents in pop-out side menus. Originally, if the fan view was too long to fit within the screen, it was automatically displayed as a grid. The user could also choose to have a fan stack always display as a grid, but they could not choose to make it fan out (due to the reason above). After the update, the top item in the fan would allow the user to open the folder in the Finder.

The list view also shows an Options pop-out menu which, when opened, allows users to change the display method used by the Stack (fan, grid or list), the order items in the Stack are displayed (by name, date created, date modified, date added and kind), and the appearance of the Stack icon in the dock (folder or stack). These options are available in the other three methods by either right-clicking on the icon with the right button of a two-button mouse, or by holding down the Control key on the keyboard while simultaneously clicking with a one-button mouse. Holding down the primary mouse button will target the contextual menu as well.

Mac Os X 1.0

With the release of Mac OS X Snow Leopard, Stacks have been further enhanced. Stacks will allow viewing a subfolder without moving to a Finder window. Stacks have also been modified to include scroll-bars for folders with many files.
